Hi Lads,my name is Bert and I have been a member of CAMFC for three years but have only just started flying.I gained my PPL in the early 90`s but had to give it up for health reasons.Once I sat in the cockpit looking down, but now I stand on the ground looking up but trust me,flying models demands more skill than the big ones,as I quickly found out after mowing the grass when I try to land, but I am getting there but I do need some more instruction ( Any volunteers ),I am free most weekdays.I am hoping to fly solo soon, see you all soon TTFN Bert ( Beepy ).

Hello there.

Learning to fly, I would say would be best done during the week days / Saturday. There just not so many people about, so you will get more time in the air and also it safer e.g not so many people around to get in the way :)
There is training still done on Sunday, but sometimes we get like 20+ flyers at the field :?. Also we run FunFly comps et.c etc. etc. on Sunday.
The first Sunday of the month is training day, but once again if lots of people turn up!

Anyway may be cya at the field!

Welcome to Croydon Airport Model Flying Club matey :D
Seems we have a handful of new learners lately, including myself.

What model(s) do you have to train with?

Hi Bert
I couldn't agree with you more. I lost my PPL medical and had to pack up flying. I thought model flying instead would be easy -wrong. I've managed one good landing so far and like you and Richard am always on the lookout for as much instruction as I can get during the week. That Pitts Special of yours that Jim flew was a real treat to watch in the air. See you at the field.

Hi Richard, sorry for the delay in replying to your message.I started building my aircraft in the wrong order, starting with a CAP 232 with a 91 four stroke on the firewall.next came the Pitts Special followed by a YAK 54 sporting a 53 Irvine to power it round ,although the only one to fly so far is the Pitts. My trainer is a Ripmax 30 with an O.S.35max engine which I am doing some work on..but that`s another story,I hope to see you at the field soon, all the best ,Bert ( Beepy)
